Harley Meagley

“Sport, to me, is about more than just physical activity. It’s a way to connect with others, push personal boundaries, and find resilience in the face of challenges. It has become a vital part of my recovery process, both physically and mentally. Sports have given me a sense of purpose, a community of like-minded individuals, and a platform to show that disability doesn’t mean inability. Every time I step on the board or lift a weight, it’s a reminder of how far I’ve come and what I’m capable of.” – Navy PO2 Harley Meagley

Meagley served for 14 years as a Builder. During a deployment to Africa in 2022, he suffered a life altering injury that led to the loss of his right foot and ankle. He had to adapt, and while it’s been challenging, he also found it empowering to find strength through adversity. It taught him perseverance and gave him an opportunity to become a Move United Warfighter Ambassador and inspire others going through similar challenges.

Meagley was introduced to adaptive sports through programs at Walter Reed NMMC. Adaptive sports gave him a way to regain confidence and push his physical and mental limits.

Meagley participates in a range of adaptive sports, including skateboarding, snowboarding, and weightlifting. He also takes great pride in competing in the DOD Warrior Games and representing USSOCOM.
