Timothy Brown

While responding to an IED call in Sangin, Afghanistan in 2011, Tim stepped on and functioned the device. The resulting blast severed both his legs above the knee and his right arm above the elbow and mangled his left hand. While recovering at Walter Reed Bethesda, Tim was introduced to handcycling and instantly fell in love, going on to complete Race Across America, Ironhorse Classic, and numerous marathons and challenge rides. Along the way, Tim dabbled in other sports; from rock and ice climbing to alpine skiing, rafting, camping, and hiking, he likes any backcountry sport. Since moving home to Houston, Tim has joined the TIRR Texans wheelchair rugby team.

To someone who is thinking about trying adaptive sports, Tim would say "Stop thinking about it and go do it."
