Move United is building a community where everyone’s included. Where people can compete, or play, or move. To shift the narrative and redefine what disability looks like, we must join forces.
Since September 2020, twenty organizations have joined the Move United member network. Offering 70 adaptive sports to 100,000 youth and adults with disabilities across the country, the Move United member network now consists of over 190 programs in 43 states and the District of Columbia. The newest members include:
Central Florida Chapter of Paralyzed Veterans of America
ComMotion (Community in Motion)
Crotched Mountain Accessible Recreation and Sports
Far West Wheelchair Athletic Association
Mary Free Bed Wheelchair and Adaptive Sports
Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan Foundation
UMAISE (University of Michigan Adaptive and Inclusive Sports Experience)
Nevada Paralyzed Veterans of America
Southwest Wheelchair Athletic Association
Tri-State Wheelchair Athletic Association (TSWAA)
Wounded Warrior Abilities Ranch
A number of these programs are part of the Move United Network as a result of the merger between Disabled Sports USA and Adaptive Sports USA to become Move United. Leveraging more than 110 years of combined adaptive sports experience between those two organizations, Move United will lead the movement to fully include people with disabilities in American society, using sport to challenge perceptions and redefine ability for youth and adults with disabilities.
This merger delivers a robust platform for growth, fostering expansion to more communities, with a goal to be locally available to 90% of the U.S. population by 2028, when the Olympics and Paralympics return to the U.S. Move United is the nation’s leading community-based adaptive sports organization and is an affiliate of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
